THE SKY OPENS TWICE
14.06 — 14.07.2018
JEST, Turin
FIONA FILIPIDIS | GINEVRA SHAY | PIERGIORGIO SORGETTI | SYBREN VANOVERBERGHE | RÓISÍN WHITE
curated by Benedetta Casagrande

The researcher has the duty to indulge in the pursuit of intuition, to endure the tickle of doubt and to tolerate the consistency of method. In the two-way solitude of photographic research, artist residencies provides a space for the meeting of languages; from the meeting of these languages a heuristic opening arises, composed of the permeation of methods and visions. Investigating the themes of the invisible, the works in the exhibition perform a whispered dialogue on the elusiveness of time and the metamorphoses of form, questioning the possibilities of the gaze in the perception of the abyss of what is not visible. Time and space return transfigured, modelled by the fixity of the photographic image that generously renders a vestige of the ungraspable.

The Sky Opens Twice encompasses the result of twenty-three days of cohabitation and production shared by Róisín White, Ginevra Shay, Sybren Vanoverberghe, Piergiorgio Sorgetti and Fiona Filipidis in the context of the artist's residence In Between Shores created by Ardesia Projects.
