Giorgia Zaffanelli is an italian multidisciplinary artist based in Milan, where she works as project manager at SPBH Space. When she was 26 years old she discovered her left ovary was harbouring an adult granulosa cell tumor, an incredibly rare, woman-specific cancer. At the heart of A Myth About the Menarchy is the need for a personal, vital and non-conforming narrative about cancer and the desire to sculpt a hybrid, uncomfortable space based on participant observation rather than on heroism or guilt, refusing to aesthetisise the experience of the illness.
